Can you believe the year is just about 1/2 over?!?! Where does the time go?
So, after failing miserably at both tracking my spending and the cessation of smoking (cessation means stopping, right?), I think I'll take a more lax approach next month (yes, I'm postponing until next month, what of it?).
Meanwhile, the band is working towards having enough material to play an opening set. Rehearsals are being held in fits and starts what with everyone (else) having other bands to worry about, wives to appease and children to parent. We'll get there, though.
Coincidentally, our guitar player's other (main) band has a private party booked coming up and their bass player can't make it, so he asked if I would fill in. That'll be a fun and daunting experience. Fun in that I enjoy playing to a crowd and daunting because I have a week or so left to learn all 58 songs (Yikes).
What have YOU been up to, dear reader?
4 animadversions:
fifty eight songs?!?!?!?!?! he must be kidding (unless they are really really short songs)
I have a new computer and it's driving me nuts (as are my kinder)
<---- not feeling 'dear' at the moment*
(*perhaps you were referring to someone else? does that get me off the hook?)
anyhoo, am supposed to be asleep already, will pop back tomorrow if I can think of anything more interesting to write
XXX
Whether you feel it or not, you are most certainly VERY dear to me.
And, no, he is not kidding. They're not short, they're pretty standard fare actually, but a sparse few are songs I've played before.
Here's a sampling:
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Cats in the Cradle - Harry Chapin
What is and What Should Never Be - Led Zeppelin
Eleanor Rigby - Beatles, The
BROWN EYED GIRL - Van the Man
Let's Go Crazy - Prince
American Girl - Tom Petty
Talking in Your Sleep - Romantics, The
Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
Only 58? *shrugs* Easy peasy.
<-- LYING!!!!
In the meantime--we've been dodging storms, taking care of yard/garden 'stuff' and generally 'lollygagging' around. Ya know--the stuff summer is made of!
Well, that and work...which I seem to do too much of, go figure.
Delaying isn't a bad thing, yaknow. It'll give you a bit of time to wrap your head around the next strategy!
;-)
Fifty Eight! A week????
Coo!
I been to London but I didn't see the Queen.
