Can't we skip turkey day and move right to Xmas?

Tuesday the thirteenth day of November, in the year of our LORD Two-Thousand-Twelve.

ITEM: The Gypsy Blue 'album' (unfortunately named "Livin' in the City" by others without so much as a by your leave) was officially released on Halloween.  I ordered a couple of copies just because and they arrived today.  Kinda neat, kinda not.
http://fnarecords.net/index.php/livin-in-the-city-76.html

ITEM: It's beginning to look a tiny, vague, sorta bit like Christmas!  We had our first few flakes of snow(more like tiny ice crystals, but I'll take what I can get) yesterday.  As you well know, it's the most wonderful time of the year!!! (you can tell by all the exclamation points)

ITEM: The above-mentioned item serves as a sobering reminder of all the promises I've made to myself regarding 2013.  I know for you long time readers that this will be a sad repeat of some things, but here goes: No more smoking (stop laughing), Exercise (seriously, stop it, I can hear you, you know), Save $$$ (ok, the doubling over guffaws are a bit over the top, don't you think).

ITEM: This year's Thanksgiving meal will include goose.

Goose! Goose! When did you eat the goose? How did you cook the goose? Who did you serve the cooked to and did they all eat in?

Snow! Snow! Why do you have snow and I don't?

Good grief man, it's not even December and you're already thinking about the new year resolutions you won't stick to. . . Seriously, why bother? Why not make a fun one for a change! Like, donate $1 a week to a different charity each week. . . Or, organise a "work choir" (they are all the rage here) and share your musical abilities, rehearse once a month and plan to put on a show this time next year to raise money for - you guessed it - charity. . . Or, make a pot of home made (that is, healthy) soup at the weekend, freeze five portions and take one to work for lunch each day, and - you guessed it - donate the money you save from buying expensive sandwiches to the local soup kitchen for the homeless charity. . . .

Ok, I think that's enough! I'll take myself and my good ideas off somewhere else (-:

The goose is for Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving isn't until next Thursday.

The snow was merely a tease...it's turned unseasonably 'warm' (read: 13 or 14c) But that hasn't stopped me from programming in the Christmas music station in my car radio.

And what makes you think I won't keep my resolutions? (apart from years of history) ;)

I hope you NEVER take your good self off somewhere else!

I've just had a good look at that link. . .

You guys clearly had access to more make-up and hair spray than I did (or ever have)

Mind you, what a handsome bunch! Was it a manly look you were going for?

Here I think you'd have been classed somewhere on the boundary of New Romantic meets . . .

. . .

meets, erm, an American kind of Glam Rock

So, that makes you Jon Bon Jovi (if I have my sub-genres correct?)

Oh, ok

I was just looking at the picture

Now I'm reading the blurb. . .

"Hair Rock"

Really? (we never had that here) (well, obviously we had the hair and we had the rock, but not the
Hair Rock)

And. . . When someone buys the fan package, will you respond to Mr S Valentine's request that you sign the photo?

And. . . Presumably, they have to pay first so that one of you goes out to,buy the box of cigars, which you then have to smoke, in order to send the fan package in said box. . . So, really, this is all very bad for your health? Or is your health already ruined by all the hairspray you breathed in by mistake during the 80s. . . .

I'll go away now

ps none of that was written with my tongue in my cheek, I'll have you know; no sarcasm was intended

I spent the early 80s listening to Rimsky-Korsakoff, Abba, Men At Work, Michael Jackson's Thriller, the Telleman Recorder Concertos and Dukas; the mid 80s listening to symphonies and opera; and, the late 80s catching up on all the A-Ha I'd missed out on in the mid 80s

my musical tastes are not recommended to anyone

My dearest FAF, I didn't read a single iota of 'rude' in any of that!

To get you up to speed:

The goose was YUMMY! I look forward to having goose again.

I think Americanize Glam-Rock is something quite other than what Mr.s Noddy Holder and David Bowie and Marc Bolan had in mind. The look was heavily influenced by such notables as the above, but the sound was something quite different.

Manly? erm...sure. It was simply de rigueur. I'd take the level of success Bon Jovi achieved in a heart-beat, but his was a softer-edged kind of music that was radio and female friendly more-so than the genre taken as a whole.

Your side most certainly did have Hair Rock, my dear. Def Leppard springs to mind, and if I'm not mistaken, Mr. Coverdale of Whitesnake fame was of the 'big hair' during their heyday.

I've extended an olive-branch to Mr. St.Valentine and have already signed the first lot of CDs (all signatures certified genuine!).

Ooh, also, I'm told we've had orders from France and Germany! I'm an international star now. ;)
