Ah, I love it when live gives you a pleasant little surprise.
Today, like most every Sunday, was rehearsal day. This would be the last day of working on new songs before three weeks of tweaking and re-tweaking the set list for the show March 14th at the J&J Lounge in Chicago.
I'd expected things to go poorly. We've been at it for long enough now where the pace of 4 or 5 new songs per week was starting to stretch the limits of some of our (ok, I'll be immodest...THEIR) abilities.
It turns out I was very wrong. After a sort of rough first number, rehearsal went swimmingly. We tore through the new material and massaged it into our own style (SPidER calls this process "dragging it through the basement") and I called of several songs that we haven't messed with in months.
The background and harmony vocals were outstanding today, and spirits grew ever higher as success after success was the result of song after song.
So, next week it is time to work on 'The List'.
