Recently, I was asked (on FaceBook) to list fifteen albums I’ve heard that will always stick with me.
The rules were simple: List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes. Here’s what I came up with. I may have gone over my fifteen minutes and I may have used outside sources (Google) to help me, mostly to remember. The list isn’t in a specific order.
1. Queen – Live Killers (1979)
2. Kiss – Alive (1975)
3. Queensryche – Rage for Order (1986)
4. Queensryche – Operation Mindcrime (1988)
5. Pink Floyd – The Wall (1979)
6. Motley Crue – Too Fast For Love (1981)
7. Guns’n’Roses – Appetite for Destruction (1987)
8. Bowie, David - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars (1972)
9. Cheap Trick – At Budokan (1979)
10. Def Leppard – Hysteria (1987)
11. Def Leppard – Pyromania (1983)
12. Aerosmith – Live Bootleg (1978)
13. SRV – Texas Flood (1983)
14. SRV – Couldn’t Stand the Weather (1984)
15. Queen – Queen (1973)
Kindly note the date range…1973 – 1988! Can it be that not ONE album, not a single artist has impacted me as much as the music of over TWO DECADES ago? Was the last time I was touched so deeply by a song really when I was 20 years old?
Now, I can think of a good couple of handfuls of albums that I listened to ad nauseum when I first got them: Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt, Ten Summoner’s Tales by Sting, even Flamenco a Go-Go by Steve Stevens. But none of them would make the list above.
What’s up with that?

Fergus has Queen and my big bro had Floyd
oh, apparently Fergus has both the Queen and also GunzNRoses. . .
he doesn't think much of your musical taste
oh, now he saying. . . wait. . . oh, nothing
he thinks you have great examples of classic rock
(Nancy wants you to check out the link chez moi)
Oh.
I'm definitely (excuse the language) screwed.
S-C-R-E-W-E-D.
I have such poor memory stuff goin' on. *sigh*
DO NOT assign that to age. :-/
Off the top of my head, Fuschia - (can't remember who by, no one ever heard of them again, but it was a great album and Hey, a rock band who read Ghormengast!!!!)), Elton - (the black and white covered one), White Bird (?)- It's a Beautiful Day, Rubber Soul, Living in the Past, Peleas and Melisande (Hah! Got you there I bet) - Debussy, Mocking bird - James Barclay Harvest (pretty rock), What we did on Our Holidays - Fairport, Moving Hearts - Moving Hearts, Dire Straits- whichever one it was? Sultans of Swing?, absolutely anything they ever produced - Kate and Anna McGarrigle.
And Riders on the Storm - Doors.
